The name Vâchæ Kîmî is derived from the Wareneese language, as Vâchæ Kîmî was founded by Anwen Brg̈gfë Fyëmë, who was culturaly Wareneese.

Overview

Vâchæ Kîmî was founded durring the late 13th century in summer of the year 1189, by Anwen Brg̈gfë Fyëmë. The establishment of Vâchæ Kîmî was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Anwen Brg̈gfë Fyëmë electing to pay people to resettle in Vâchæ Kîmî.

Vâchæ Kîmî was built using the conventions of Wareneese durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Vâchæ Kîmî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Vâchæ Kîmî is buildings are arranged arround a single broad cobblestone mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the town a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Vâchæ Kîmî's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. The town's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A quick look in any direction shows Vâchæ Kîmî is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live. Or if the general public wasn’t so enthusiastically, openly, and merrily participating in these activities.

Vâchæ Kîmî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Vâchæ Kîmî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Vâchæ Kîmî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Vâchæ Kîmî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Vâchæ Kîmî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Vâchæ Kîmî's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its buildings being predominantly formed through the combination of basic geometric shapes. However, it shown in the detailing given to the structures such as its characteristic tall columns, intricate detail, symmetry, harmony, and balance in their designs to an astonishing degree of precision. Decorative elements for the buildings tended to be built into the structure itself, making great use of fluting, frescoes, inlays, and embossing.

The Giant hissing cockroach near Vâchæ Kîmî are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Vâchæ Kîmî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Invocation energies of tier 2 via mimery.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Vâchæ Kîmî was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Vâchæ Kîmî lost 216 people, 140 livestock, and 53 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 183, when members of Vâchæ Kîmî's militia enacted an operation to escort a specific noble to a safe location. The operation was complicated by at least some of the intelligence related to the operation was incorrect. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in defeat for Vâchæ Kîmî's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Vâchæ Kîmî's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
